Donald Briscoe, MD is the program director of the Methodist (Houston) Family Medicine Residency. He also
Department of Family Medicine at the Methodist Hospital.
He did his undergraduate and medical school at the University of Virginia and completed his family medicine
residency training at the Shadyside Hospital Residency Program in Pittsburgh, PA. He has completed an
academic family medicine fellowship at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA, and the National
Institute for Program Director Development fellowship program. Dr. Briscoe worked in a group family medical
practice in the suburbs of Richmond, VA, prior to joining the residency faculty. Among other academic
activities, Dr. Briscoe has been the author or co-author of several books, including “Case Files: Family Medicine”
and “Lange Q&A: USMLE Step 3.”
Outside of work, Dr. Briscoe enjoys travelling with his wife and 2 sons, playing and coaching baseball, and
seeking out new wines to sample. Dr. Briscoe is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the
Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine. He holds
the academic position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine in Medicine at the Weill Medical College
of Cornell University.
